When to use this template
This template is for telling a seller that a product you bought has a fault. It gives the purchase date, describes the fault and asks for one of two remedies: a repair or a refund.
What the letter contains
- Date is the day you bought the product; it opens the first sentence and appears again above your name.
- Message describes the fault, placed after “has the following fault”.
- The second sentence asks the seller to either repair the product or refund you, leaving the choice open between the two.
- Recipient names the shop or seller the product was bought from.
- The letter does not name the product itself, so the purchase date and the fault description are what identify it.
- Your full name signs the notice, and your address is printed under it if you enter one.
