Bumetanide — Loop diuretic. Study the mechanism, listed uses and warnings from the US label on one sourced card.
Generic name
Bumetanide
Class
Loop diuretic
Mechanism
Loop diuretic; inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle.
Used for
Edema associated with congestive heart failure in adults; Edema associated with hepatic disease in adults; Edema associated with renal disease, including nephrotic syndrome, in adults
Potent diuretic; excessive amounts can cause profound diuresis with water and electrolyte depletion, so careful supervision is needed.
Warnings
Contraindicated in anuria; Hepatic coma, severe electrolyte depletion; Serious skin reactions (SJS/TEN)

Mechanism: Inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the loop of Henle and the proximal and distal tubules.
On both cards: Common side effects — Dizziness; Nausea
Only on the Furosemide card: Used for — Edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis or renal disease in adults and children; Hypertension in adults, alone or with other antihypertensive medicines · Common side effects — Anorexia; Photosensitivity · Warnings — Fluid and electrolyte depletion; Hepatic coma in cirrhosis; Ototoxicity
Mechanism: Animal micropuncture studies show inhibition of the Na+/K+/2Cl− carrier from the lumen of the thick ascending loop of Henle, producing diuresis.
On both cards: Common side effects — Hypotension
Only on the Torsemide card: Used for — Edema (heart failure, renal or hepatic disease); Hypertension · Common side effects — Excessive urination; Electrolyte abnormalities · Warnings — Hypotension / worsening renal function; Electrolyte and metabolic abnormalities; Ototoxicity
Mechanism: Lowers blood pressure by decreasing systemic vascular resistance, usually without reflex tachycardia.
On both cards: Common side effects — Dizziness; Hypotension; Headache; Nausea
Only on the Verapamil card: Used for — Hypertension in adults, for the cited extended-release tablets · Common side effects — Constipation · Warnings — Contraindicated with severe left ventricular dysfunction; Contraindicated with systolic blood pressure below 90 mmHg or cardiogenic shock; Sick sinus syndrome or second/third-degree AV block is contraindicated unless a functioning artificial ventricular pacemaker is present
An item counts as shared only when both cards use the same wording. If a card does not list an item, that is not a statement that the effect never occurs.
