Membership describes a named action or a component of a combination. A medicine may appear in several families. Medicines in one family are not automatically interchangeable; this is a study directory, not a prescribing guide.

How each medicine works

Lisinopril — Inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme, blocking conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and suppressing the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.
Lisinopril / Hydrochlorothiazide — Lisinopril inhibits ACE, lowering angiotensin II and aldosterone; hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic.
Amlodipine / Benazepril — Benazepril inhibits ACE, lowering angiotensin II and aldosterone; amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker.
Benazepril — Benazeprilat inhibits ACE, blocking conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and lowering aldosterone.
Enalapril — Hydrolyzed to enalaprilat, which inhibits ACE, blocking angiotensin II formation and aldosterone secretion.
Ramipril — Ramiprilat inhibits ACE, blocking conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and reducing aldosterone.

Each summary is the mechanism line from the medicine’s study card.

What each medicine is used for

Lisinopril — Hypertension in adults and children aged 6 years and older; Adjunctive therapy for heart failure; Reduction of mortality after acute myocardial infarction in hemodynamically stable patients treated within 24 hours
Lisinopril / Hydrochlorothiazide — Hypertension when this fixed-dose combination is appropriate; it is not indicated for initial therapy
Amlodipine / Benazepril — Hypertension not controlled on monotherapy
Benazepril — Hypertension in adults and children aged 6 years and older; pediatric use is not established with GFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m²
Enalapril — Hypertension in adults and children aged 1 month and older; not recommended in neonates or children with GFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m²; Symptomatic heart failure, usually with diuretics and digitalis; Reduction of overt heart failure and related hospitalization in clinically stable, asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction with ejection fraction at or below 35%
Ramipril — Hypertension in adults; Reduction of myocardial infarction, stroke or cardiovascular death in adults aged 55 years and older with coronary disease, prior stroke, peripheral vascular disease, or diabetes plus another labeled cardiovascular risk factor

Each list is the uses line from the medicine’s study card.
