- 11.803398875
How the calculation works
The new value is the old value grown by the change for the given number of periods.
A worked example
- Old value
- 80
- New value
- 100
- Periods
- 2
Step by step
- New value ÷ Old value = 100 ÷ 80 = 1.25 → 25 %
- Change per period (%) = 1.25^(1 ÷ 2) − 1 = 11.803 %
- 1: 80 × (1 + 11.803 %) = 89.44
- 2: 89.44 × (1 + 11.803 %) = 100
The change per period is compounded: two periods of 11.80% give 25% in total, not 2 × 12.5%.
If one input changes
- Periods = 1: Change per period (%) = 25
- Periods = 3: Change per period (%) = 7.72
- Periods = 4: Change per period (%) = 5.74
- Periods = 5: Change per period (%) = 4.56
