Dark Jamaican rum22.5 ml (0.8 oz)
Aged rum22.5 ml (0.8 oz)
Calvados45 ml (1.5 oz)
Cointreau15 ml (0.5 oz)
Fresh lime juice22.5 ml (0.8 oz)
Grenadine15 ml (0.5 oz)
Pineapple syrup15 ml (0.5 oz)
Passion fruit syrup15 ml (0.5 oz)
Falernum7.5 ml (0.3 oz)
Cinnamon syrup7.5 ml (0.3 oz)
Absinthe1 dash
Angostura bitters2 dash
How to Make It
Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
Shake briefly but hard.
Strain into a tall glass filled with crushed ice.
Garnish with a cherry, grated nutmeg and a star anise.

It builds on the Zombie that Donn Beach introduced at his Hollywood bar in 1934. The original recipe darkens the drink with activated charcoal; it is left out here because charcoal can interfere with medication.
