When to use this template

This template is for asking a creditor to let you pay a balance in instalments. It explains why you cannot pay the full amount at once and asks for a payment plan.

What the letter contains

Message gives the reason you cannot pay in full, opening the letter after “Due to”.
The first sentence states that you are unable to pay the full balance at once.
The second sentence asks for a payment plan, without proposing amounts or dates.
Recipient is the company, bank or office you owe money to.
Date is printed under the request, and your full name with an optional ID number identifies the account holder.
