When to use this template
This template is for explaining to a school why a pupil was absent. It gives the pupil's name, the day of the absence and the reason, and asks the school to record the absence as excused.
What the letter contains
- The name in Full name opens the letter as the pupil who was absent, and the same name is printed under the letter.
- Date is the day of the absence, used in the first sentence and again under the letter.
- Message gives the reason for the absence, after “due to”.
- The second sentence asks for the absence to be recorded as excused.
- Recipient is the school or class teacher who keeps attendance.
- The letter covers a single day; it has no space for a range of dates.
