How each medicine works

Medicines in this body system: 7 · in a drug class: 3 · drug classes: 2

Apixaban — Selective inhibitor of free and clot-bound factor Xa and prothrombinase, independent of antithrombin III; decreases thrombin generation.
Clopidogrel — Prodrug; active metabolite irreversibly binds P2Y12 ADP receptors on platelets, inhibiting platelet activation and aggregation.
Ferrous Sulfate — The selected label does not state a molecular mechanism.
Folic Acid — Precursor of tetrahydrofolic acid, a cofactor in purine and thymidylate synthesis; converts megaloblastic to normoblastic marrow.
Cyanocobalamin — Converted to coenzyme B12; needed for methylmalonate-to-succinate conversion and methionine synthesis, regenerating tetrahydrofolate.
Rivaroxaban — Selectively inhibits free factor Xa and prothrombinase activity without antithrombin, decreasing thrombin generation.
Warfarin — Inhibits synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors II, VII, IX and X and anticoagulant proteins C and S.

Each summary is the mechanism line from the medicine’s study card.

An item counts as shared only when both cards use the same wording. If a card does not list an item, that is not a statement that the effect never occurs.
