When to use this template

This template is for asking a landlord to return your security deposit after you have moved out. It states the address you left and the date you moved out, then asks for the deposit back.

What the letter contains

  • There is no Message field; the letter is built only from the address and the move-out date.
  • Address names the property you moved out of and is used inside the sentence, so it is not repeated under your name.
  • Date is the day you moved out, and it is printed again above your name.
  • The second sentence asks the landlord to return your security deposit, without stating an amount.
  • Recipient is the landlord or letting agent who holds the deposit.
  • Your full name signs the request, with an optional ID number line under it.
