Basement cleaning checklist
The basement template has two infrequent tasks: monthly vacuuming and decluttering every three months. See why a four-week preview shows each only once.
Storage space on a slow rhythm
The basement in Kleara holds vacuum every month and declutter surfaces every three months. It is not part of any preset, so you add it yourself. The template is for ordinary storage areas you can reach and move around in safely.
It does not cover damp, flooding, electrical problems or unknown substances. Those need their own assessment, not a recurring checklist line.
Two dates, then a long gap
From 26 October 2026, vacuuming is placed on 26 October and decluttering on 27 October. Each appears once in the 28 days: the vacuum returns on 26 November and the decluttering on 27 January 2027.
That makes the basement look almost empty in a four-week preview. Long-cycle jobs are still in the plan; they just sit beyond the preview, and the Plan tab in the app shows their next date.
Make it workable
- Define the area the declutter task covers, for example one set of shelves, and rename it with a custom task if that makes it clearer.
- If the basement floor is rarely used, change the vacuum to Every 3 months in the Plan tab instead of ticking off a task you skipped.
- Decluttering often stalls on items that need someone else's decision. Keep the task open, or move it with Move to another day, rather than marking it done.
- If you add the basement months after setup, it is scheduled from the day you add it and spread on its own, so check whether its first dates land on a busy day.
Why the count stays low
Two occurrences in four weeks is the smallest count of any room, shared only with the laundry room. Do not judge the basement by the four-week number; look at the next dates instead.
The vacuum task has the same name in five other rooms. Each line is independent, so finishing the basement does not move the bedroom or hallway vacuum.
