Build the note around one real action
Write the person's preferred name, identify the help or gesture, and add a sentence about why it mattered. Keep the explanation proportionate: thanking someone for lending equipment does not need the same length as acknowledging sustained support.
Avoid inserting details because the template has space for them. If a sentence is not true of your situation, remove it. A short specific note is complete when it communicates the thanks you mean.
An original plain-text outline
Dear [name],
Thank you for [specific help or gesture]. I especially appreciated [one concrete detail]. It helped me [explain the effect in your own words].
[Optional: one short personal sentence about what comes next.]
With thanks,
[your name]
- Replace every bracketed field.
- Use a greeting and closing that fit your relationship.
- Delete the optional sentence if it adds nothing.

Read the finished note aloud and remove repeated phrases. Check the person's name twice, then confirm that a line break has not separated the greeting or closing awkwardly.
Use Elyaz's blank-letter workflow or an appropriate template to prepare a preview in your own handwriting. The full-page preview is free; PDF download, printing and sharing are Pro features. The plain-text outline is available in this page's resources so that you can edit the words independently of the app.
- Leave enough space for a readable closing.
- Print one preview page when checking a new layout.
