Tablecloth

Start from the app’s rectangular-piece template. Choose a size, adjust your measurements and calculate the fabric before cutting.

Your measurements

Decimals and fractions such as 1.5, 1½ or 1 1/2 are accepted. Do not use thousands separators.

For cut-on-fold pieces, enter the half-pattern width. The folded edge receives no seam allowance.

How the calculation works

Each piece is cut 1 cm larger on every edge, so its width and its length each grow by 2 cm.

A worked example: Tablecloth, 140 × 220 cm · 56 × 84 in

Fabric width
150 cm
Seam allowance per edge
1 cm
Usable fabric width
150 cm
  1. Top × 1 — Width: 140 cm + 2 × 1 cm = 142 cm · Length: 220 cm + 2 × 1 cm = 222 cm

Where each piece sits on the fabric

x: distance from the fabric edge · y: distance along the fabric length

Required
222 cm · 2.22 m · 2.43 yd
Unused fabric area (%)
5.3

A worked example: Tablecloth, 140 × 220 cm · 56 × 84 in (Inches)

Fabric width
60 in
Seam allowance per edge
0.5 in
Usable fabric width
60 in
  1. Top × 1 — Width: 56 in + 2 × 0.5 in = 57 in · Length: 84 in + 2 × 0.5 in = 85 in
Required
85 in · 2.16 m · 2.36 yd

Length needed for each template size and fabric width

Top: 132 cm wide with seam allowance, wider than the 110 cm fabric.

Top: 142 cm wide with seam allowance, wider than the 140 cm fabric.

Top: 53 in wide with seam allowance, wider than the 44 in fabric.

Top: 57 in wide with seam allowance, wider than the 54 in fabric.

Template sizes and pieces

Measurements do not include seam allowance. The calculator adds it to each edge.
