Read the five checks individually
Stock Screener's dividend view considers cash-flow coverage, profit payout coverage, debt, the history of dividend cuts and the direction of return on assets. Open the individual results rather than treating a count such as four of five as a complete conclusion.
- Name the failed or unavailable check.
- Check the filing period behind it.
- Distinguish an unavailable metric from a passing result.
- Read relevant company explanations before interpreting a change.
Keep arithmetic and judgment apart
Cash flow and profit differ, as the SEC's financial-statement guide explains. A company can report profit while cash timing or investment requirements tell a different story. A payout ratio also needs a sensible denominator; a loss should not be hidden behind a superficially attractive percentage.
Use the manual coverage calculator to reproduce one defined calculation from matching-period inputs. Then return to the filing for context such as unusual transactions, debt obligations or a change in the business. Stock Screener's checks are a research aid, not a forecast or investment recommendation. A historical record of dividends does not guarantee the next payment.
