Work from exact clues toward broader ones
Try the recognizable part of the text first, then a shorter fragment if punctuation or recognition could differ. Inspect the returned image before acting on it. A similar reference number or an old address can look convincing when separated from the rest of the screen.
- Search a distinctive visible word or number.
- Try a shorter fragment if recognition is uncertain.
- Open the screenshot and read the surrounding text.
- Check the source and date before using the information.
Know what text recognition cannot promise
Tiny lettering, decorative type, compression and unsupported scripts can make text hard to recognize. Apple notes that Live Text availability varies by region and language. If a search returns nothing, the image may still exist; browse the relevant folder or shelf before concluding it was deleted.
Shotnest highlights the matching line inside search results and keeps screenshot text processing on the iPhone. Its language coverage still has limits. A personal folder can preserve useful context even when the words in an image are not recognized reliably.
For a single image, Apple's Live Text can help you select or copy readable text. A library search and a one-image text selection solve different parts of the problem: finding the image first, then extracting the piece you need.
