Example calculation
Quilt batting size: worked out from the values already filled in the form above.
Inputs
- Measurements in: Millimetres
- Width: 1,500
- Length: 2,000
- Extra on each edge: 100
Result
- Required: 1,700 mm × 2,200 mm
How the calculation works
Batting overage is added on all four sides. The required width is the top width plus twice the allowance, and the required length is the top length plus twice the allowance.
For a 1500 × 2000 mm top with 100 mm on each edge, the batting should cover 1700 × 2200 mm. This is a size calculation; it does not choose a batting material, loft or quilting-machine allowance for you.
