Compare true airspeed with the speed of sound
Mach number is true airspeed divided by the local speed of sound. This worksheet uses the app’s ideal-gas relationship and the supplied outside air temperature. The temperature must be stated in degrees Celsius as labelled.
Pressure altitude is retained as part of the supported atmosphere input and range check. It does not substitute for the temperature input. This is an educational atmosphere calculation, rather than an aircraft-specific airspeed or flight-envelope check.
Read speed units explicitly
True airspeed, calibrated airspeed and ground speed describe different quantities. A Mach result from TAS should not be interpreted as a wind correction or as a direct conversion of ground speed.
