Example calculation
Quilt strip calculator: worked out from the values already filled in the form above.
Inputs
- Measurements in: Millimetres
- Fabric width: 1,100
- Cut strip width: 63.5
- Quantity: 12
- Total width removed for selvages: 25
Result
- Required: 0.762 m · 0.833 yd
- Strips: 12
How the calculation works
Enter how many full-width strips you want and their cut width. Each strip uses that much length from the bolt. Twelve strips cut 63.5 mm wide require 762 mm of fabric length before any extra buying allowance.
Selvage loss changes the usable length of each strip. It does not change the strip count you entered. This mode totals unjoined strips; use the binding tool when you need joins included in one continuous length.
