Apertia
Apertia is a depth of field calculator for iPhone. Pick your sensor and lens, set aperture and focus distance on lens-style rings, and see the near and far limits of sharpness, the total depth of field and the hyperfocal distance at once, drawn on a side view of the scene. No account, no server, works offline.
Apertia is an iPhone depth of field calculator for photographers: near and far sharp limits, hyperfocal distance and a live bokeh preview for your camera and lens.

Features
- Calculates the near and far limits of sharpness, total depth of field and hyperfocal distance with the thin-lens formulas camera makers use for their DoF scales
- Built-in sensor library: full frame, APS-C, APS-C (Canon), Micro Four Thirds, 1-inch and medium format, each with its own circle of confusion; a strict CoC option for large prints
- Set aperture, focal length and focus distance on knurled lens rings; a side-view diagram shows the sharp zone, the hyperfocal point and infinity
- Bokeh preview (Pro): portrait, landscape and street scenes blurred layer by layer with the real blur-disc size for your settings
- Hyperfocal table (Pro): every common focal length × aperture on your sensor; tap a cell to set it
- Saved camera + lens kits and A/B compare of two settings (Pro); metres or feet; no account, works offline
Questions
How do I calculate depth of field on iPhone?
Open Apertia, pick your sensor and lens, then set aperture and focus distance. It shows the near and far limits of sharpness, the total depth of field and the hyperfocal distance at once.
What is the hyperfocal distance for a 24 mm lens at f/8?
On a full-frame camera with the standard 0.030 mm circle of confusion it is about 2.4 m (7.9 ft); focus there and everything from about 1.2 m to infinity is acceptably sharp. Apertia's hyperfocal table lists every focal length and aperture for your sensor.
How much background blur will I get at f/1.8?
It depends on focal length, subject distance and background distance. Apertia computes the blur-disc size and shows it on a live bokeh preview, so you can compare f/1.8 and f/4 before you shoot.
Does Apertia work with APS-C and Micro Four Thirds cameras?
Yes. Full frame, APS-C, Canon APS-C, Micro Four Thirds, 1-inch and medium format are built in, each with its own crop factor and circle of confusion.
Is Apertia free?
The depth of field and hyperfocal calculator, the sharp-zone diagram and one saved kit are free. Pro, a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, adds the bokeh preview, the hyperfocal table, unlimited kits and A/B compare; the yearly plan starts with a free trial.

How it works
Apertia uses the classic thin-lens formulas camera makers use for their depth of field scales, with a circle of confusion set by the sensor: full frame, APS-C, Canon APS-C, Micro Four Thirds, 1-inch and medium format are built in, and a strict option halves the circle of confusion for large prints. The calculator, the diagram and one saved kit are free; Apertia Pro unlocks the bokeh preview, the hyperfocal table, unlimited kits and A/B compare.
