Tzamah Nafshi
My body thirsts
for Elohim, for the Living God;
my mind and flesh
sing out His praises.
The one Who made me
Said, “As I live!”
“For no man
May see me and live.”
He made all with Wisdom
With discerning counsel.
How hidden is He
From the eyes of all life!
High above all His host;
They all announce his might.
Blessed be He who has in hand
The soul of every living thing.
He selected Jacob’s family
To teach them the Laws
Which, if a man follow them,
He will live.
Who could justify themselves?
All are like dust.
Truly, none is worthy
Before You.
Recall the ancients’ love
Return the dead to life
And bring near the time
When the son of Jesse lives!
Hark! This woman has the truth
The reliable servant
“No, for her son has died
And mine lives."
Where it comes in the siddur
