How can two dated light records reveal a seasonal change?
Compare two dated light records while retaining changes in the room and surroundings.
Use dates as part of the context
Light conditions at the same window can change through the year. Compare records taken at stated dates and times, and note any changed curtains, nearby structures, foliage or plant position. If several of those changed, do not attribute every visible plant difference to the season alone.
Use a repeated observation method so the records answer the same question. The comparison describes the conditions actually noted; it is not a universal schedule for moving a plant or changing its care. Keep the plant’s identity and requirements separate from the location description.
A two-date comparison
- Retain the original room position and observation times.
- At the later date, record the same fields and any changed obstruction.
- Write the observed difference without assigning a cause that was not established.
