How can a plant-check reminder be handed to another person clearly?

Hand over a plant check as a clear observation task rather than an automatic watering instruction.

State what needs to be checked

A useful handoff identifies the plant, its location, the date and the observation requested. “Check Plant A” is clearer when the record also states what should be inspected and where the earlier observations can be found. It should not imply that water or a treatment must be added at every scheduled check.

Keep any care instructions tied to an appropriate source and the plant’s actual condition. The person checking should be able to record an uncertainty or take no action when a decision has not been established. Do not replace a missing instruction with a generic amount or interval.
