What can a non-invasive inspection of nearby indoor plants record?
Record a non-invasive inspection of an indoor plant and its immediate neighbours.
Look before deciding on an action
An indoor inspection can record the visible condition of leaves, stems and the surrounding setup. Use suitable viewing and photography rather than handling an unfamiliar organism just to complete a record. Keep the plant’s identity and location with the observations.
When a possible pest problem is being assessed, nearby plants can provide useful context. A similar mark on two plants does not establish that the same organism caused it. Retain separate observations and use a specific reference or qualified assessment before selecting a management method.
A bounded inspection record
- Example: record which leaf surfaces and stems were actually inspected.
- Note visible residue, organisms or damage without assigning an unverified name.
- Keep nearby plant records separate and date any later action.
