What Does Dreaming of Being Chased Mean?

Traditional Interpretation

In traditional interpretation, and according to Ibn Sirin, being chased in a dream may point to a difficulty closing in on you, to a debt, or to a responsibility you have long avoided facing. Escaping the pursuer or reaching a safe place may be read as a sign that the difficulty is temporary and that you will come through it.

Psychological View

In modern psychology, the chase dream is among the most common recurring dreams and is usually read as a repressed anxiety making itself heard. The pursuing figure is often not an outside threat but a feeling, a decision, or a past the dreamer keeps postponing; running without gaining distance can represent that postponement itself.

By Context

For Singles

It may point to a decision about the direction of your life, or to a desire you have not yet admitted to yourself.

Not Being Able to See the Pursuer

Being Unable to Run

It may point to a situation in which you want to act but feel held in place, and to a sense of helplessness.

Turning to Face the Pursuer

It may be read as a sign that the avoided matter is now ready to be handled, and that the fear will prove smaller than it seemed.
