Why can different debt concepts fail to describe the same quantity?
Read the actual debt concept before comparing a reported amount with a broader debt definition.
Long-term, current and combined amounts differ
A noncurrent long-term-debt concept does not automatically describe total debt. A different source concept may combine obligations or include a different classification. Keep the taxonomy tag beside the amount before using a broad heading in a comparison.
Do not add a current component to a reported total without checking whether it is already included. Conversely, do not describe a noncurrent component as an all-inclusive measure simply because another component is unavailable in the reference.
Use the example’s stated scope
The Apple row below is supplied by LongTermDebtNoncurrent. Its amount 78328000000 USD is an instant fact at the stated date, not an annual flow of borrowing or a complete debt-to-capital calculation.
Any derived debt measure needs an explicit definition and checked inputs from the appropriate source context. The historical table does not reconcile every obligation or provide a current credit assessment.
