What can an amended filing change about a historical fact?

Trace an amended annual filing by its accession and date without assuming every amendment changes every financial fact.

An amendment is a separate source submission

A 10-K/A source row identifies an amended annual filing. Keep its accession and filing date alongside the reported concept and period. The amended form label alone does not tell you which amount changed or why the amendment was submitted.

Compare the relevant source statements or notes before describing an amendment as a restatement. An unchanged numeric value in an amended filing can still be a later source observation, while a changed value needs its actual reporting context examined.

Read the selection method explicitly

Within an exact period and unit, this reference selects the latest filing observation available under its concept-priority method. That choice describes the displayed historical reference. It is not a complete version history or a claim that the original filing no longer matters.

When a question concerns the difference between submissions, retain both accessions and inspect the actual filings. Do not infer that a missing earlier observation is proof that no amendment or correction occurred.
