Find drinks from your ingredients without guessing substitutions

Turn an inventory of bottles, mixers and fresh ingredients into a realistic shortlist for tonight.

Finding a recipe from your cupboard is a two-pass task. First find the drinks that share your main ingredients. Then check every remaining ingredient and preparation step. The second pass prevents a promising search result from becoming a half-finished drink.

Use recognizable ingredient names when you build an inventory. 'Orange liqueur', 'orange juice' and 'orange bitters' have different jobs. A name that merely contains the same flavor word is not enough to establish a substitution.

Read a match from the full recipe

Check the base, sweet component, sour component and any required mixer individually. Then check quantities and technique. You may own all the named bottles but still lack enough fresh juice for the intended number of servings. Write down usable quantities if you are planning more than one drink.

Keep alternatives explicit

If a recipe calls for one ingredient and you use another, label the result as your variation. Equal volume does not establish equal sweetness, acidity or strength. Starting with a small test portion saves ingredients and gives you a clearer record of what changed.

Siplore combines ingredient search with My Bar matching and a catalog of cocktail and alcohol-free recipes. Use the matching list to narrow the choice, then read the recipe you intend to follow. Save a favorite after you have tried it so that next time your shortlist reflects your own preferences.

Questions, answered

Can I search by an ingredient I have very little of?

Yes, but compare the required measure with your remaining amount before choosing how many servings to make.

Will a similar-looking bottle behave the same way?

Not necessarily. Treat a substitution as a recipe change and record the actual product and amount you used.
