Keep ticket details without assuming current validity

The sample boarding-pass text scores 8 for Tickets in Shotnest; keep journey, date and seat readable, and use the issuer’s current pass to travel.

How the ticket score is built

Boarding pass and boarding both appear on the Tickets list and are longer than five letters, so each adds 2. Flight adds 2 as well. Gate and seat are four letters and add 1 each. The sample reaches 8 for Tickets with no other shelf scoring. The numbers 12 and 5A are not part of the score; they matter to you, not to the rule.

In the app, the detail view can also pick out dates, phone numbers and addresses in the recognised text with the system’s data detection, which helps when a booking screenshot contains a time or a venue.

A cropped pass scores far lower. “Gate 12 Seat 5A” alone, 15 characters, matches only gate and seat for 2 points, below the threshold of 3, so the shelf comes from the on-device model where available or stays a weak Tickets suggestion.

Keep a ticket reference useful

  1. Make sure the journey or event name, date and place are readable in the screenshot.
  2. Put tickets for one trip into a folder together with the related places and messages.
  3. Search by booking reference or flight number when you need it quickly.
  4. Before sharing, cover barcodes and booking codes in a copy.
  5. Open the issuer’s app or email for the pass you actually present.

Ticket screenshot mistakes

A gate or seat that changed after you took the screenshot will not change in Shotnest: the text is read once from the image and stays as captured.

No validity check

All sample text is invented. The classifier tool linked below does not check a reservation, read a barcode or decide whether a ticket is valid; the Tickets shelf is an organising label.
