Review a downloaded file before distributing it
The image tools here process files inside the tab and upload nothing, but the PNG you download is an ordinary file once it leaves the page.
What stays local and what does not
The crop, cover, resize, rotate, properties and contact-sheet tools read the image you choose with the browser and draw the result on the page. No image is sent to a server. The Shotnest app works the same way on the phone: text is read on the iPhone and no screenshot or text is uploaded.
Local processing ends with the download. The new PNG lands in your downloads folder, where backup services, sync apps and messaging apps can see it like any other file. From that moment its privacy depends on where you keep it and whom you send it to.
The properties tool is a quick check before and after an edit. It reports the decoded width and height, the file size and the type the browser reports, without showing the file name or claiming to list every metadata field.
Check the export before it travels
- Open the downloaded PNG itself, not the preview on the tool page.
- Zoom in on the edges of any covered rectangle to make sure the area is fully hidden.
- Scan the rest of the image for names, addresses, barcodes or faces the tool did not look for.
- Move the file to a folder you control, then share only that reviewed copy.
Assumptions to drop
- That a file processed locally stays private after you send it.
- That the cover tool finds private details by itself; it fills only the rectangle you enter.
- That clearing the form deletes the download; it only resets the page.
- That rotating or resizing hides small print; the result is a new image, and anything still visible in it can be read by whoever receives it.
The tool's control ends at the download
Nothing on the page can follow the exported file, withdraw it or check how a receiving app handles it. That decision stays with you.
In the app the same hand-off happens at the share sheet. Share in the detail view and Share as PDF from a selection pass the files to iOS, and from there the app you choose decides what is stored or sent.
