Understand weekly and monthly recurrence
Weekly adds seven days every time; Monthly steps by calendar month and clamps at month end. Compare both series from 31 January and choose the one you mean.
Two different kinds of step
Kleara's day-based frequencies, Daily, Every 3 days, Weekly and Every 2 weeks, add a fixed number of days. Weekly is always seven days later, whatever the month.
The month-based frequencies, Monthly, Every 3 months and Twice a year, move to the same day in a later month. Monthly is not 30 days: when the target month is shorter, the date is clamped to its last day.
Both series from 31 January
The weekly example steps from 31 January 2026: 7, 14, 21 and 28 February, then 7 March, always seven days apart. The weekday never changes.
The monthly example steps from the same day: 28 February, 28 March, 28 April, 28 May and 28 June. The gaps are 28, 28, 31, 30 and 31 days. The day number stays on the 28th after the February clamp, and the weekday changes from month to month.
Choosing the right one
- Pick Weekly for jobs tied to the rhythm of the week, such as a floor you mop on the same weekday.
- Pick Monthly for jobs tied to the calendar month, accepting that a start late in the month may drift to the 28th.
- If neither fits, Every 2 weeks gives a fixed 14-day rhythm, and Every 3 months a quarterly calendar step.
- Change the frequency of a single task in the Plan tab; the new rhythm applies from its next completion.
What changes once you use the app
In the app, the next date is counted from the day you tick a task. A weekly task finished on a Thursday instead of a Tuesday comes back on Thursday, and a monthly task finished on the 3rd comes back on the 3rd of the next month.
The example dates are what happens when every task is finished on its due day. In practice, your completion days set the pattern, and both kinds of frequency follow them.
