Choose one representation for a shared washing machine
A washing machine can appear in both the bathroom and the laundry-room template. See the two-line and one-line examples and decide which room owns the machine.
One machine, two possible owners
Kleara's bathroom template includes clean the washing machine every three months, and the laundry-room template includes the same task monthly. Where the machine stands decides which line makes sense. If both rooms are selected, the plan carries two lines with different rhythms for what is usually one appliance.
The app does not check for this. Each room simply brings its own tasks.
The two examples
With both lines in the plan, the example starting 26 October 2026 places the laundry-room line on 31 October and the bathroom line on 7 November: two occurrences in 28 days for one machine, and two different next dates, 30 November and 7 February 2027.
With only the laundry-room line, the task is placed on 26 October and appears once in the four weeks, next due on 26 November. That is the plan you want when the machine is in the laundry room and the bathroom has none.
Set one owner
- Identify where the machine actually is.
- In the Plan tab, delete the washing-machine line in the other room.
- Set the remaining line to the rhythm the machine's instructions suggest; Every 3 months and Monthly are both available, as are the other frequencies.
- If there are two machines, keep both lines and name them clearly, for example by replacing one with a custom task called after its location.
Why it matters
A duplicate line is not harmless. If you tick it to clear the list, the app records a completion that did not happen and the task comes back on its own schedule. With Take turns on, it may also be counted in one person's fair share.
The house preset selects both the bathroom and the laundry room, so this choice comes up in almost every house plan.
