Build a source-specific reference from reviewed metadata

Create a reviewed APA, MLA, Chicago, IEEE or NLM reference entry with explicit dissertation, report and proceedings fields. Unsupported cases stay closed.

Choose the work you actually consulted

An individual webpage, an online book and a printed report need different source details. Choose the actual source kind and consulted version. This workbench does not turn every source with a URL into a webpage.

Keep roles and dates separate

For a dissertation, distinguish the awarding institution from a public repository and choose the actual document designation. A report number is separate from a journal issue. A published conference paper may require both proceedings publication details and meeting dates.

Review before you reuse

Move from one reference to a continuing project

The downloaded text and clearly identified metadata JSON cover this source. Use Citelle on your iPhone for the app’s reference collection and citation workflow.

Reviewed reference entries only. Full notes, in-text citations and every optional source variant are outside this workbench. Leeds Harvard and ABNT are not enabled.

The work you consulted

Use the source title. Supply a reviewed sentence-case or title-case form when the style needs it; the workbench does not automatically change title casing.

Publication and access dates
Publication details

For the reviewed IEEE book case, enter a numbered edition such as 2 or 2nd ed. Qualifiers such as revised or international need separate review.

Doctoral dissertation

A public repository dissertation and an unpublished institutional dissertation are different sources. Choose the actual status; do not guess an archive, document designation or institution.

Report with individual authors

Check whether a report number is assigned. Complex sponsor/performer reports and multiple report numbers are outside this version.

Published conference paper

The reviewed case is a published paper in proceedings. A live presentation is a different source. NLM also needs meeting dates and location.

Source details stay in this tab. Export files are created locally.

Reference entry

An example verifies that case, not every reference in the style. Review capitalization, abbreviations and institution requirements.
