How can conditional variants be kept visible without choosing a religious rule automatically?

Amidora tags 435 of 2560 Ashkenaz segments as calendar-dependent additions; see how Pro marks or dims those lines while always keeping them on the page.

What a tagged line is

When Amidora's texts were built, lines that the source presents as additions for particular days were given tags, such as avinu_malkeinu, al_hanissim, yaaleh_veyavo, tachanun or hallel. Only additions the text pipeline recognises are tagged. In the Ashkenaz text 435 of 2560 segments carry a tag, in Sefard 560 of 2871, and in Edot HaMizrach 376 of 2069.

In Pro, a tagged line gets a coloured side bar when the app's calendar flags say it applies on the current day, and is dimmed to 45 percent opacity when they say it does not. The line is never removed, and a line whose tag the calendar does not recognise stays unmarked.

Reading a conditional passage

  1. Read the instruction text next to the addition; the source's own wording explains its context.
  2. Treat a side bar or dimming as a reading aid derived from the calendar, not as a ruling.
  3. Check which nusach is selected, since the tags differ between the three texts.
  4. When copying, keep the instruction with the addition so it does not read as fixed wording.
  5. For a practical question, use your prayer book and community guidance.

Which tags are most common

In the Ashkenaz text the most frequent tag is avinu_malkeinu with 107 segments, followed by ayt_ici with 69, and ayt and al_hanissim with 49 each. The ayt_ici tag works differently from the others: those lines are never dimmed and are only marked during the first ten days of Tishrei.

Mistakes

What the marking does not decide

The marks come from the app's calendar engine and the tags in texts drawn from Sefaria, listed below. They help you find your place; they do not settle when a person should say an addition.
